What types of heat guns and torches are available?
The great thing about heat guns and torches is that there is a wide variety of styles in order to handle a range of applications. To know which of these tools is best suited for your needs, we will need to take a look at each type of tool and where they excel. Below you will find a list of the tool types we carry as well as a brief explanation of each type.

Heat guns
Heat guns are tools that project a heated flow of air from the opening at the front of the tool. This heat is no joke and can reach temperatures exceeding 1000°F or 540°C. These tools are useful for a wide range of functions which we will cover in more detail below. This type of heat tool does not make direct contact with any material during its operation, so it is not useful for things such as soldering. Do not worry, we have tools for soldering.

Torches
Torches are similar to heat guns in that they both project heat with the main difference being that torches actually use a flame rather than heated air. That may sound as if they do the same thing, but I assure you, they do not. The flame a torch uses carries different properties than that of heated air and as such offers different abilities. For one, a torch can be concentrated more directly whereas a heat gun will cover a wider surface area. It all boils down to the specific applications you have in mind.

Ultra-torch heat tools
These heat tools are the only ones that require direct contact with a material in order to work properly and for good reason. Ultra-torch heat tools are often used to solder, pinpoint heat, and even remove surface components. One of the best aspects of this type of tool the numerous attachments that you can add to the front of the tool. Each one offers a unique ability and helps to make this tool even more versatile. How hot can these tools get?

The exact range of heat that each tool offers varies greatly from one tool to the next. Some tools may offer 1000°F or 540°C while others heat guns and torches may offer 500°F or 260°C. This is done so as different applications call for different amounts of heat and as such, different heat guns and torches. So, in order to get the proper tool for your task, you will need to know what each tool can offer. You can find that information on our spec sheet which is located (here). Although each tool varies in how much heat it can produce, the highest heat from any tool here is 2500°F or 1300°C.
What kinds of jobs can these tools handle?

Heat guns and torches are designed to handle an impressively large number of tasks. More so than any other category of tools out there. Between the two types of tools, the tasks that they can perform include soldering, pinpoint heating, removing surface components, repairing vinyl, shrinking heat shrink, spot drying, activating adhesives, bending plastics, defrosting, forming plastics, drying, curing, gluing, softening materials, and even stripping paint. So, you can see by that list that these are some of the most versatile tools you will find on the market.
