What makes them advantageous?
Delphi connectors, also known as Aptiv connectors offer advantages you will not find with other types. For starters, Delphi connectors use tin-plated terminals and have special core wings that allow crimp-only connections. This totally removes the need for solder which saves you time and headache. Another advantage they offer is that the connector and cavity seals are triple-ribbed and made of self-lubricating silicone. This means insertion is an easier task and the seal they make offers an extremely high level of protection. As we said above, Delphi connectors are designed to withstand exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, and fluids.
Are you worried about the terminals coming loose or backing out of the connector? Don’t be. Delphi connector terminals have dual-locking tangs to prevent backing out and each connector has a secondary lock and Connector Position Assurance (CPA). These measures mean that you can trust your connection will remain solid even under vibration and stress.
Before we wrap up the advantages, we should touch briefly on plugging the connectors together. Each of the connectors has positive locking indexing which prevents mis-mating of the connectors. To make it even better, terminal plugging requires no orientation meaning you can insert the pins and sockets with no regard to top and bottom.
