Shielded multi conductor cables are used for a variety of purposes. These include things like consumer electronics and industrial process control equipment. They are also used in advanced signal transmissions in controlled environments. What does all of that mean? Well, it basically means that shielded multi conductor 22 AWG cable is used for controlling equipment. First, the shield can actually reflect a lot of the energy. This prevents it from interrupting the circuit. Second, the shielding can help to conduct some of that energy to the ground. Both of these actions make sure that the EMI/RFI does not reach the conductors.
