Why were they so hard to find?
Worldwide supply issues have affected nearly every market and sealed electrical connectors were no exception. This led to limited supplies of multiple products affecting both manufacturers and consumers. Supply chains around the world suffered from two primary challenges: sustainable sourcing and production. Pacer has been working diligently with manufacturers, vendors, and other members of the supply chain to lock down a steady supply for environmentally sealed connectors, their accessories, and their tools. What types of sealed connectors are available?
DTM
The DTM line of connectors are designed for lower amperage applications with each contact being able to handle 7.5 amps. The “M” designates “mini” which makes them ideal for applications where limited space is an issue. They are designed for use with size 20 contacts, 22-14 gauge wire, and are available in 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, or 12 contact cavities.
DT
This is your standard, and most popular size of environmentally sealed connector. They are built to handle 13 amps of continuous power and work with 20-14 gauge wires. The DT series uses size 16 contacts and its connector bodies are available in 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, or 12 cavities.
DTP
The DTP series is the next step up from the DT series with the connectors being able to handle 25 amps of continuous power. These connectors are for use with size 12 contacts and work with 14-10 gauge wire. You’ll find this line of connectors offers 2 or 4 cavities.
DTHD
DTHD series are the heavy guns. As a matter of fact, the “HD” stands for “heavy-duty”. These connectors are single circuit and work with 14-6 gauge wire. For 100 amp protection, use size 4 contacts, for 60 amp protection, use size 8 contacts, and for 25 amp protection, use size 12 contacts. This series is built for the harshest conditions including marine usage.
