Power Limited Tray Cable is utilized in a multitude of applications. As the title suggests, this style of cable is used in power-limited circuits. They are often used in intercom circuits, computer interconnections, and even in burglar alarms. So, what exactly are tray cables? The concept started from the idea of protecting smaller cables that are commonly found in an industrial environment. You see, smaller cables were being placed beneath larger ones and were unable to handle the stress. This, in conjunction with the rough environment, leads to failures in smaller communication and power cables. In order to resolve this issue trays were installed, usually running along the ceiling. These trays carried the smaller, lighter cables. The term Tray Cable means that the cables are installed in cable trays. See what I did there? These cables are designed to meet the specifications of the NEC (National Electric Code). This is why you will find them in factories, wind turbines, and control systems. Selecting the correct type of cable for your job isn't always an easy task. Contact a Pacer expert with any questions that you have.
