Side post terminals are designed for side connection to a battery post. They are cast with 131 contact copper. They are then electro-plated with a bright tin finish. Each side post terminal has raised letters indicating wire size and post type. This makes identification easy and seamless. For corrosion protection, a thin layer of epoxy is added to the surface of the nuts and bolts. This epoxy coating serves to maintain consistent torque as well as galvanic protection. How do you use side post terminals? The first step is to strip your battery cable to the correct length. After that, slide the side post terminal over the exposed portion of the cable. A deep chamber chamfered entry allows for easy cable installation. To properly secure the side post terminal while making a solid connection, you need to crimp it with the correct tool. If you need a little extra protection, add a piece of epoxy-lined heat shrink.
